In the Nineteenth Century, the intersection of today's Century Drive and West 2nd Street was the location of Sam Gates cabin and the lane that led into the Gates’ farm. Below is the famous picture of Sam Gates’ cabin which was exhibited at the 1893 World’s Fair and pictures of Gates’ Lane as it looked in the 1980s and in 2000.
